The absolute BEST way to learn is to turn your own home network into a lab! ——-> Break things, treat your home like an enterprise network, and use those CCNA best practices right now. Go build it!! ☕️💻 https://academy.networkchuck.com/course/premium-summer-of-ccna

Why do I have 6 different VLANs at my house? simple answer is........ SECURITY! I don't let everyone on one massive network. ——-> I use /24 subnets to lock things down! 💻 - One VLAN for my employees 👥 - A totally separate VLAN for my servers 🖥️ They CANNOT talk to each other unless I say so! VLANs give you the ultimate boundary to set rules on who can access what and control internet traffic.

Flushing the toilet kills our network! What would you make your AI agents investigate? Go watch the FULL VIDEO here: https://youtu.be/7RVf25Rg0Mc

I'm building a monitor for my studio toilet with a Raspberry Pi. A float switch in the tank tells the Pi every time it flushes. If the tank stays low for 2 minutes, the toilet is probably running, and it throws a warning. 10 minutes and it goes critical. ....and as you can see, the Pi is currently unreachable. 😅

One of my new favorite ways to brew coffee. ——-> canadiano It makes my coffee smell and taste a bit like the wood it’s made of....which is weird and I’m not sure how I feel about it. But the flavor is good. ☕ brewing Default Route: ntck.co/defaultroute 🪵 the brewer: canadiano.co

This is how I'm monitoring my Hermes agents: - Set up Checkmk - Configure a custom script to monitor: - AI model subscription (OAuth) - Cron jobs - Memory health - ...and whatever else I can think of. I show how to do this in my latest video. https://youtu.be/Bjifz55TTPI

Setting up monitoring software for your homelab (and business) is a huge pain. That's why I usually don't do it...or I start and never finish it. I started using Checkmk a few weeks ago, the free, open-source software that can monitor literally everything....and I think this one is going to be a different story for me. Why? Because I can connect any of my AI agents to it to manage the monitoring for me. I set up a few things myself to see how things work and what it can monitor. Then...I just gave my AI agent the keys and it added ALL of my stuff, all of my infra, Docker containers, Proxmox VMs. It set up alerts and graphs and dashboards. I'm hooked. https://youtu.be/Bjifz55TTPI
